2023 Vacation Bible School

Update: VBS is cancelled for 2023, due to a lack of sign-ups.

This year’s VBS is “Keepers of the Kingdom,” from Answers In Genesis!

We are engaged in an epic battle for the hearts and minds of our youth. Every day, they’re bombarded with lies about who they are, who their Creator is, and where their salvation comes from. Thankfully, God has given his children armor to wear in this battle between truth and lies, light and darkness, good and evil.

With Keepers of the Kingdom, your kids will learn how they can be part of God’s kingdom through salvation in his Son and will be equipped with the armor of God to become Keepers of the Kingdom and strong in today’s battle for truth.

Resumption of physical meetings

We know you are eager to get back to normal, and we’re going to take the first step this Sunday, June 7.  Our current circumstances are not ideal, so neither will our re-opening plan be ideal for all.  Please continue to show God’s grace and love to one-another as we are all very eager to return to normalcy.

As we resume meeting in-person, we’re going to begin with only the 9:30 AM worship and remembrance service.  We’ll continue to hold the 10:00 AM virtual service for those who are high-risk or who choose to remain at home.

Below are details of the steps we’re taking to minimize risk of COVID-19 transmission at the physical meeting.  Use this information to help determine your decision to either attend, or continue with the virtual meeting for now.  If you have further questions please do contact one of the elders.

See below for the complete schedule.

There will be a few unavoidable changes at the physical meetings for now.  We will not be requiring masks, but you may choose to wear one if you wish.  The cushions on the pews have been arranged in a staggered fashion to identify where parties should sit.  If everyone only sits in the cushioned sections, that will leave at least six feet between your party and others, except for the sections in the middle of the pew, which you should leave unoccupied if it would place you within six feet of another party.  We will be singing out of the hymnals as usual.

For the passing of the elements, we’ll be breaking off “chunks” of bread for each group of people.  If you raise your hand, a chunk will be handed to you, and you can distribute it to your group.  The cups will also be offered to each individually by the usher.  Use the pew-back holders to dispose of them.  You may bring your own bread/wine if you’d like.  Offerings may be placed in the offering boxes in the front and rear of the church.

While we won’t have coffee, water, or snacks, you may bring a drink if needed.

There will be no snack/fellowship time after the meeting ends, and the following Zoom service is currently scheduled to begin at 11:15 AM.

Please prayerfully consider whether you feel comfortable meeting together at this time.

Updated Schedule:

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM — Breaking of Bread at LHBC facility (simultaneous with below)
10:00 AM - 10:40 AM — Virtual Remembrance Meeting on Zoom

COVID-19 and Lake Howell Bible Chapel

For updates on this announcement, please visit our COVID-19 Update page here.

In view of COVID-19, there will be only a remembrance meeting tomorrow, March 15.  Please use your own discretion as to whether or not you attend.

All other meetings will be cancelled through Sunday, March 22, including Prayer Meeting, Kids Club, Youth Group, and Ladies Bible Study.  Over the next week we expect to have additional information which should inform our future direction for meetings starting Wednesday, March 25.

Regarding attending tomorrow’s remembrance meeting, please be aware of the following information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, “Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.  People who are at higher risk are encouraged to avoid crowds as much as possible.”

During this time we really encourage you to be spending time in Scripture together as families, praying for one another, and to be in touch with one another through emails, phone calls, texts and the Chapel Facebook Page.
